Abu Sayyaf - 04/06/2012 : இலங்கை பாராளுமன்றத்தில் அல்-கைாயிதா, லஷ்கர், தலிபான் போன்ற அமைப்புக்களுடன் தொடர்புடையவர்களை தடை செய்யும் சட்டமூலம் கொண்டுவரப்படவுள்ளதாக செய்திகள் வெளியாகியுள்ளன. மேற்படி அமைப்புக்கள் தொடர்பாக வெளியாகியுள்ள செய்தியில் அவற்றை பயங்கரவாத இயக்கங்கள் எனும் அடிப்படையிலேயே சுட்டப்பட்டுள்ளன. தனி நபர்கள், நிறுவனங்கள், அமைப்புக்கள், குழுக்கள் போன்றவை இதில் அடங்கும்.

Order to demolish Dambulla Mosque. Why raise this explosive issue now?

Prime Minister D.M. Dayaratne’s order to demolish a 65 year old mosque in Dambulla and instead build a mosque in another place strikes at the very root of religious freedom .It also shocked and hurt the island’s Muslim community. Responding to the order and expressing the community’s mood Muslim Congress Secretary and parliamentarian Hassen Ali said the “community will not accept a mosque in another place even if it was built of gold”.

Last Friday a mob of about 2,000 Sinhalese, led by a group of Buddhist monks, stormed into a mosque in the historical city of Dambulla. They caused disturbances so severe that Friday prayers had to be cancelled. Reports suggest that the mosque had been hurled at with petrol bombs the night before, causing minor damage, and security forces were deployed to control the situation. The targeting of the Muslim community was instigated by a group of racist Sinhalese individuals, consisting largely of hooligans, who were motivated by the uproar and attention such an act would create, rather than by any identifiable ideology.

இலங்கை முஸ்லிம் உம்மாவின் மத்தியில் நேற்றைய தினம் ஒரு அசம்பாவிதம் நடந்து முடிந்துள்ளது. தம்புள்ளை நகரிலமைந்த மஸ்ஜித் பௌத்த பேரினவாத சக்திகளாளல் ஊர்வலமாக வந்து தாக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. “ஹாமத்துரு” என அழைக்கப்படும் மததலைவர்கள் தலைமையேற்று இந்த திட்டம் நடாத்தி முடிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

மேற்படி தாக்குதலின் பின்னணியில் ஒரு அரசியல் கட்சி செயற்பட்டுள்ளது. இலங்கை அரசாங்கத்திற்கும், அதன் அதிகாரமிக்க தலைவர்களிற்கும் “ஜெனீவா” விவகாரத்தில் முஸ்லிம்கள் மேல் ஏற்பட்ட நெருக்கமும், அமெரிக்க குற்றவியல் பிரேரணைக்கு எதிராக கிளந்தெழுந்த முஸ்லிம்கள் பற்றிய சிங்கள மக்களின் நல்லெண்ணமும் தான் மேற்படி நிகழ்வுகளிற்கு முக்கிய காரணம்.

Question: Salam Alaikum. What I understand from your lectures is that you believe the method to re-establish Caliphate is through Jihad. Can you respond to this?

Another view that is being addressed to the Ummah is the concept of fighting the rulers and that through military struggle Islam will return to the world stage. Again this is based upon a particular Hadith.

It has been narrated from many sources including Imam Muslim that the Prophet (saw) said, "Do not challenge the people of authority unless you see explicit Kufr of which you have clear proof from Allah (from Islam).."

Sheikh Anwar al-Awlaki's (rahimullah) Foreword:

This book "The Slicing Sword" Represents the answers given by Sheikh Abd Allah al Bari al Ahdal to questions on the topic of Hijra (migration for the sake of Allah) and al-wala and al bara (loyalty to Allah and disavowal of the enemies of Allah). The importance of this book lies in the fact that the situation that Sheikh was face with similar to our circumstances today which gives relevance to his answers.

Aden was occupied by the British in 1873 and the author died around 1854. So his time was one in which the power of the Ottoman Khilafah was waning while the Western powers were on the rise. Therefore, this was a time when there were some Muslims who were replacing their pride in being Muslim and being subjects of Muslim rile with being subjects of Western occupiers and sailing under Western flags.

The author belongs to the Ahdal family who are descendants of al Imam al Hussain bin AN and are a family steeped in Islamic scholarship. They are from the Shafi'i school and live on the Western coast of Yemen on the Red Sea. The same land of the companion of the Prophet Abu Musa al Ashari.

I have studied this book under two scholars from the family of al Ahdal and I would encourage my brother and sisters to benefit from it.
